Senate President Akpabio Faces Sexual Harassment Allegations

    For some weeks, Nigeria’s number three citizen has been having a running battle with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Kogi State.
     Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has publicly accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, alleging inappropriate behavior during a visit to his residence in Akwa Ibom on December 8,2024.

   However, the situation reached its height when the lawmaker went on a live television programme to accuse the senate president of demanding sexual favour before she would be recognised to speak at plenary.

      Akpabio has not officially responded to these allegations, but his wife has threatened legal action against Natasha. Calls for an investigation into these claims have been made by various political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to reports, the attackers made away with valuable items including designer wristwatches, jewelry, two iPhones, a MacBook laptop, and approximately £200,000 in cash. Sources further claim that the total value of items stolen is estimated to be around £500,000. Authorities are said to be investigating the incident.
