Jos fashion designer sentenced to prison for stealing phone

Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a 38-year-old fashion designer, George Goma, to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing a mobile phone.Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos sentenced Goma after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Mr Bokkos in his judgment, ordered the convict to pay an option of N30,000 fine or spend six months in prison.

He also ordered the convict to pay N180,000 as compensation or, in default, he would spend another six months in prison.

The prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on January 7, at the Anglo-Jos Police station by Desmond Ali, the complainant.

Mr Gokwat said the convict visited the complainant, who was his best friend and stole his phone worth N180,000.
